This past summer, Animation students from the Kelowna campus got the chance to travel to Vancouver to attend Siggraph 2011, the 38th International Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques.
The students got to take part in drawing competitions, watch the making of the new animated film, La Luna, from Pixar, and visit booths of industry organizations from 745 countries around the world, including ZBrush and Think Tank. SIGGRAPH 2011 was Vancouver’s largest ever conference, with 15,872 artists, research scientists, gaming experts and developers, filmmakers, students, and academics from 74 countries around the globe.
While in Vancouver, the students also toured the EA (Electronic Arts) Games Studio and took part in a live drawing exercise at the Vancouver Aquarium.
