Every year, the Kelowna campus Event & Promotions Management students put on a large scale event in the community to bring the campus together, raise funds for students and future students, and put their newly minted event planning and promotions skills to the test.
Wednesday, April 11 marked a fun and successful evening at the 4th Annual CATOFest. This year’s theme? Twisted Carnivale! Long drapes of fabric at the entrance helped set the mood, making it seem like you were walking through the entryway of a carnival tent – popcorn and hoards of raffle prizes greeted you before moving onto the photo booth and carnie games. Group games like hula-hooping, human knot, tug-o-war and the pie and jalapeno eating contests were highlights of the evening. Not to mention the pair of Center of Gravity tickets and numerous raffle prizes that were awarded.
Our Event & Promotions Management students who planned and organized CATOFest raised money through ticket and raffle sales to the tune of $2500.00 for Kelowna student bursaries, $700.00 for the campus student food bank, and $500.00 for the student emergency fund – for a grand total of $3700.00! Congratulations on a successful evening Charlotte Ainsworth, Hayden Barnard, Selena Hrynuik, Miranda Johnson, Erin Urquhart, and Cassandra West!
Thank you to Audio student DJ 5by5 who kept the music going all evening.
A big thank you goes out to Ryan Klassen for being our MC for the evening and all our student volunteers – thank you!
SNAP Okanagan was there too! Check out the photos they captured at the event.
What will next year’s theme be? Stay tuned!
