8th Annual Vancouver Animation Studio Tours

News

Our graduating Animation students from Kelowna went to Electronic Arts, Rhythm & Hues, and Sony Pictures Imageworks Studios for the 8th annual Vancouver Studios Tour June 25-26th.

Sean Ridgway, Animation Department Head in Kelowna commented,“Visiting the studios in Vancouver presents an opportunity for them to echo the tools and methods we train our students in throughout their program at the Centre for Arts & Technology. It is inspiring and insightful for students to understand how a studio functions and what it takes to succeed in the industry from the firsthand experience of those working there. Vancouver itself is screaming for talent and all studios said there is no better time than now for new grads to be seeking opportunities in the field of animation.”

Here’s what some of the students…

Joshua Grenier, Student “I really enjoyed the studio tours! They were fun and very knowledgeable, giving us good, general insight for what to submit to studios”.

Beverley Anderson, Student “I really appreciated the amount of valuable, and honest information that was given to us”.

And here’s what the studio’s had to say to our grads…

Electronic Arts Canada: “On your reel, show what you can do creatively and also tailor it to what we do”.

Rhythm & Hues: “It was a great pleasure to have your students here; it was a nice sneak peek into their mindsets to see what they need to ensure we give them a chance”.

Sony Imageworks: “In school, and the industry you won’t always be handed the answers. You must know how to find them yourselves and apply it. Learning on your own never stops”.

Good luck to our graduating 3D Animation and 3D Game Animation students!
