Cranbrook’s Good Ol Goats have taken their talent to the next level as they join the top 8 in CBC’s Searchlight contest!
The band composed of teenagers: Nolan Ackert (lead vocals, banjo and guitar), Angus Liedtke (guitar, dobro, banjo, harmonica and vocals), Theo Moore (standup bass and backing vocals), Angus MacDonald (mandolin, backing vocals and fiddle), Joelle Winkkel (shaker and backing vocals) and Juilian Bueckert (drums) attribute their inspiration to bands such as Mumford and Sons and The Avett Brothers.
Their sounds are a combination of bluegrass and spirited folk as they bring together high energy instrumentals with enchanting, genuine lyrics.
These 8 acts are competing to take home the grand prize of being featured in a CBC Music video session, performing at the CBC Music festival in Toronto and receiving $20,000 worth of music equipment, courtesy of Yamaha Canada Music.
The next pole for choosing the top 4 closes Sunday, March 31, 2013 at midnight EST and the results will be revealed Tuesday, April 2 at 3pm ET.
