Interior Design Students Headed to IDIBC – IDC Okanagan Chapter Design Exchange 2013

News

The Kelowna Interior Design students will be attending the IDIBC Okanagan Chapter Design Exchange on May 15, 2013. This event will give our Interior Design students the opportunity to connect with manufacturers and suppliers as well as other interior designers, architects and professionals within the industry.

The day will begin with a 2 hour information session which will clarify how to ensure you’re specifying and obtaining the best architectural woodwork. This session will give attendees the opportunity to learn about AWMAC’s role in assisting with projects which includes pre-tender document review, shop drawing review, mock up and post installation inspection, deficiency report, follow up and the guarantee on certified work performed by member companies of AWMAC.
Attendees will learn to determine the quality of specifying woods, panels, finishes and hardware by referencing the Architectural Woodwork Standards.

On hand to speak will be Curt Higham, CCTS, Ames Tile and Stone. Curt has been with Ames Tile and Stone for 28 years and has had an additional 7 years of experience in the industry. Curt has CCTS (Certified Ceramic Tile Salesperson) and TTMAC (Understanding Ceramic Tile) certification and is responsible for organizing training for over 100 staff at various store locations.

The latter part of the day will explore Pinterest and the A&D Community. As Pinterest is quickly becoming one of the fastest growing social media platforms for people to collect and share images, A& D has become increasingly active on the website.

Speaker, Bob Hunter – Senior Sales Associate of Milliken will illustrate his involvement with Milliken Carpets and A&D Community. Bob has coached many sales people and has been on the board of directors for the International Facility Managers Association – BC Chapter for numerous years.

The end of the day will provide attendees with the opportunity to network as well as browse new products. This will be a great opportunity for our Interior Design students and we can’t wait to see what they come back with!
